Donkey Kong Country is the North American reboot of Nintendo’s Donkey Kong franchise. It is a retro platforming game from 1994 developed by Rare for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). Go on an adventure with Donkey Kong and his nephew, Diddy Kong, as they journey in search of their stolen banana hoard. Join them as they travel through a large variety of levels and maps to find the crocodile King K. Rool in order to recover their stolen bananas. But watch out, the crocodile will do whatever it takes to stop them, and even throw his entire army, the Kremlings, right at you!

The core gameplay of Donkey Kong Country is a side-scrolling action platform game where you walk through the environment, jump from platform to platform, and avoid or defeat enemies in the process. The basic controls for this game on this site are to use the arrow keys to move, the “X” button to jump, and the “S” button to roll or pick up objects. Players will find themselves journeying through up to 40 side-scrolling levels filled with all manner of platforms, enemies, and obstacles. However, if you find a barrel that is labeled “DK” and break it, you can get Diddy Kong to accompany you, which is basically an extra life. Diddy Kong is not as strong as Donkey Kong when it comes to fighting enemies, but what he does have is agility instead.

The unique thing about Donkey Kong Country is the level of themes available, which are super diverse. These include levels set in jungles, underwater reefs, caves, mines, mountains, and even industrial factories. Players can also visit other members of the Kong family from the world map, each with their own distinct purposes.
